ProAction Receives Grant from Truist Foundation to Support Career Opportunities

ProAction was awarded a $10,000 grant by Truist Foundation. The grant is a much-needed boost to ProAction’s year-round efforts to recruit, train and graduate Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in El Paso, particularly in communities of color.

There is a shortage of EMTs in the Borderland, and that has been the case since Covid-19 began. At ProAction, we are proud to train our students with experienced instructors, flexible schedules and invaluable hands-on-training exercises.

“In ProAction courses, students learn everything from first aid to life-saving techniques. Once the students become EMTs, they are guaranteed consistent job opportunities. With the training offered at ProAction, our students are well prepared to offer the best care possible to their patients, which benefits the health and safety of those in our community,” said Dusty Warden, director of Operations at ProAction.

A career in the emergency medical service field is an excellent choice for those looking for job security. ProAction is the best place to learn skills that can be used as a ProAction first responder, ambulance medic, or when employed by a hospital, emergency care facility or doctor in private practice.

“We recognizes the critical life-saving role that EMTs provide in our communities and the ongoing need to recruit and prepare those in the field,” said Bill Toomey, Houston and Central Texas regional president for Truist. “At Truist, our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities, so we’re proud to support ProAction’s workforce training program that provides critical skill-building and economic advancement opportunities for hard-working individuals who deliver care when we need it the most.”
