PNC Foundation Supports ProAction Emergency Services Institute with a Generous Grant

We are excited to announce that the PNC Foundation has awarded a significant grant to ProAction Emergency Services Institute, bolstering our mission to improve the lives and health of our community through life-saving services and education. This grant marks another step forward in our collective effort to ensure that vital health services and emergency medical training are accessible to all, particularly in underserved areas.

ProAction Emergency Services Institute has been a pillar in West Texas and Southern New Mexico for over 25 years, providing top-notch emergency medical training and services. The PNC Foundation’s grant will directly support ProAction’s critical programs, including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training, First Aid, CPR certifications, and community outreach initiatives. These programs play a crucial role in preparing individuals to respond to medical emergencies, equipping them with the skills necessary to save lives when every second counts.

Impacting Lives through Education and Training

Through this partnership, ProAction will be able to expand its educational resources, providing scholarships to aspiring EMTs and emergency responders. This is particularly important as many individuals who dream of serving their communities are often held back by financial barriers. By removing these barriers, ProAction and the PNC Foundation are opening doors for future first responders, ensuring that our community has a well-prepared and robust emergency response system.

Moreover, the grant will help ProAction continue offering free or low-cost CPR and First Aid training, directly contributing to the health and safety of the broader community. In an area where quick access to emergency care can be a challenge, these skills empower everyday citizens to step in and provide critical assistance before professional help arrives.

A Shared Vision for Community Health

Both ProAction and the PNC Foundation share a common goal: to strengthen communities through health, education, and access to essential services. This partnership underscores the importance of collaboration in addressing the unique challenges faced by our region.

“Our work focuses on creating healthy, prepared communities,” says Henry Brutus, Executive Director of ProAction Emergency Services Institute. “The PNC Foundation’s support allows us to continue this mission, ensuring that emergency care and life-saving education are within reach for everyone, regardless of their financial situation. We are deeply grateful for their investment in the future of our community.”

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, this grant will not only enhance ProAction’s training and educational programs but will also help to save lives. By empowering both professionals and everyday citizens with essential medical knowledge, ProAction is building a more resilient community capable of responding effectively in times of crisis.

This partnership is a shining example of how organizations can come together to create meaningful change, and we look forward to the continued success and growth of this initiative.

ProAction Celebrates National Philanthropy Day: Empowering Our Community

National Philanthropy Day is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the altruistic actions of individuals who make a positive impact on their communities. On this meaningful day, we shine a light on ProAction, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing job opportunities in the medical field through education. We explore the heartwarming stories and initiatives of ProAction, emphasizing the crucial role that donors play in transforming lives within our community.

Investing in Education: ProAction directs its philanthropic efforts toward student scholarships for the ProAction Emergency Services Institute. These scholarships create opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals like Avery Perez, a recent high school graduate, and recipient of the Jill Field Scholarship. Avery’s dream is to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and thanks to this scholarship, she’s now ready to embark on her educational journey.

“It’s always been something I wanted to do. I had to put off school for a year to try and save money, but now with this scholarship, I am able to start right away.” The support from donors has enabled individuals like Avery to pursue rewarding careers in healthcare, ultimately benefiting our entire community by increasing the availability of qualified medical professionals.

The Power of Philanthropy: For Henry Brutus, the Executive Director of ProAction, philanthropy is at the core of their efforts to advance careers in healthcare. It is my goal to increase the impact of our message to donors who may not know we are a nonprofit organization. I welcome anyone to reach out to me and learn more about ProAction.”

A Legacy of Compassion: ProAction’s journey began with the passion and dedication of its founder, Jill Field. A nurse who started her career working in a local hospital, Ms. Field took a bold step in 1995 when she invested her life savings to establish ProAction. Her initial mission was to support educational opportunities, and since then, ProAction has continued to grow, benefiting the community through scholarship programs. Additionally, the organization has trained numerous EMT students who’ve gone on to serve their community with their life-saving medical skills.

BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas: A Remarkable Contribution: In a beautiful demonstration of corporate philanthropy, BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas has contributed $25,000 towards ProAction’s cause. This generous donation further reinforces the commitment to improving healthcare education and job opportunities in our community.

As we celebrate National Philanthropy Day, we applaud ProAction for its unwavering commitment to creating a more educated and empowered community. The stories of scholarship recipients like Avery Perez and the tireless efforts of ProAction’s team serve as a testament to the incredible impact that philanthropy can have on our society.
